Illustration – Giambattista

I think we’ve all now recovered enough from Paris Fashion Week for another post ;) I’ve been working away at some new art in the past few weeks and this is the first to be ready. This illustration – Giambattita –  is inspired by a beautiful piece from the designer Giambattista Valli. This look was from the Couture shows back in January and was by far my favorite look so I got painting and this was the result…

Illustration - Giambattista 3I so loved painting this piece and getting in all the details and colors. I tried to take it in the 1950’s style with red lips and elegant pose, I think the dress was asking for it really. I used watercolors initially and then layered the block colors and details with Gouache and Acrylic. It has taken me years and years but I think I’m finally coming to a style that works for me and produces something close to what I first imagine. There are plenty of times mistakes occur, but I think it is in those mistakes that you learn key things to make your process better. I definitely understand now how professional illustrator’s and Artists say that you never stop learning! I hope you like the way ‘Giambattista’ has come out, there are A4 Giclee Prints of ‘Giambattista’  available in the shop and I’m hoping to add A3 to that very soon…
