You could say that the thing that started me on the road to creating a blog was magazines. I had the ones like ‘Girl Talk’ and ‘Mizz’ when I was younger, then as my appetite for fashion grew I found I wanted something more substantial. I moved on to Elle Girl and It was like a revelation to me! I found out that it wasn’t just pink glittery things that were available to me (although I have nothing against pink and glitter!) but I could be different and try new things with how I dressed and presented myself. When I found out that Elle Girl had folded I moved on to Elle itself, and again, I realized there was a whole world of style bigger than anything a 13 year old could imagine, and I loved it! I began buying Harper’s Bazaar and Vogue, and of course that led to i-D and eventually Lula. I just loved it when a new month would come around and I could look forward to the fresh issues and wonder what amazing things they would include. The one part I probably most looked forward to though was the editorials! I couldn’t wait to see what beautiful poses would be made by the models and what fantastic locations they would use. Those magazine really were the beginning of where I am today, and for that I am ever grateful. Today, still, I always enjoy looking at the new editorials and taking inspiration from then, whether it’s the scene, or the pose of the colours; there is infinite inspiration to be found. Exhibit A : the editorial below. I am loving the way the colours are clashing and creating amazing shapes and lines, they are definitely the sort of pictures that make me look again and want to get the paint brushes out! O the debt I owe to magazines!
