I’m afraid to say that Lula magazine went a bit ‘young and hip’ for my liking after Leith Clark left the helm. It pains me to say it, but I haven’t been feeling the Lula love! However, there are glimpses of nice things, namely, ‘Some Kind of Blue’ from the issue #19 – Winter 2014/2015. It has a warmth to it that takes it away from that ‘random young teen roaming around aimlessly’ thing you see quite often now, I love the colour and light of it, I hope you do too! The photography is by Wai Lin Tse.
Some Kind of Blue
I’ve been a fan of Kris Atomic’s illustrations for years now, here fun style and fashion influences make her a great drawing role model. I keep check through her blog on things she’s been doing and one of her most recent collaborations caught my eye…
This time around she has been doing some work for a pattern company called Gather, illustrating images to go on the packets. I don’t know about you, but I would be almost certain to buy a pattern if it had these lovely ladies on the front! Have a browse of Gather’s pattern kits if you are interested in sewing, they have a lovely collection of simple, stylish patterns that have comprehensive instructions, which is always handy!
